Terms
Last updated 23 September 2026
These are the terms for using helloim.ai: the Windows app, the website, and your account. By using them, you agree to these terms. Our privacy page explains what happens to your data.
helloim.ai is operated by vDesktop, LLC. When these terms say “we”, that's who they mean.
What helloim.ai is
It's an interface, not an AI. helloim.ai gives the AI you already use a name, a face and a voice. The thinking is done by a model you connect: Claude, ChatGPT, Gemini, another provider, or one running on your own computer. We don't make that model, and we don't control what it says or does.
Your account
- The Windows app needs an account, and it checks that account with our server each time it starts. Without that check, it won't open.
- One helloim.ai account per person, tied to an email address you've confirmed. Keep your password to yourself. Anything done with your account is your responsibility.
- You can delete your account at any time by emailing us.
- You must be at least 13 to use helloim.ai in the US, and at least 16 where local law sets a higher age. If we learn an account belongs to a child under that age, we'll delete it.
Your AI provider
When you connect an AI, you're using that provider's service on your own account, under their terms. What they charge you is between you and them. We don't meter those costs, cap them or pay them. A local model has no per-message charge.
If you use Claude, the app runs Anthropic's Claude Code, which may send usage metrics and error reports to Anthropic under Anthropic's policy.
What the assistant does
The AI can be wrong. It can misread you, and it can take an action you didn't intend. Check its work before you rely on it.
The ability to act on your computer (“Safe Agency”) is off until you turn it on. Even then, it asks before each consequential action and waits for your answer. Once you approve a step, what that step does is your responsibility.
The same goes for anything you connect, like Gmail, Google Calendar, Slack or your email account. The assistant uses them under your login, and those services' own terms apply. With Gmail and Calendar, it can send, draft, label, archive and trash email, and create, change and delete events. It acts on what you ask, and as above, it can misread what you asked.
Using it fairly
Don't use helloim.ai to break the law, to harm anyone, or to get into systems or accounts that aren't yours. Don't attack, overload or try to get around our servers, sign-in or licence checks. If you do, we can close your account.
Plans and pricing
- Free costs $0. It's the full assistant on your computer: every face, voice, theme and language.
- Enterprise is a dedicated hosted instance we set up and run for your team, reached in any browser. It's inquire-only and priced per team — email hello@helloim.ai to scope it.
An Enterprise agreement is billed and cancelled on the terms we agree with you directly, not through self-serve checkout.
The source code
The app's code is public on GitHub under the MIT license with the Commons Clause. That makes it source-available: the code is public, with limits on selling it. You can read it, change it and use it. The Commons Clause means you may not sell it, or sell a product or service whose value comes mainly from it. The LICENSE file in the repository is the version that counts.
Some parts come from other people under their own licenses. The Kokoro voice model is under Apache 2.0. If you choose Claude, the app can install Anthropic's Claude Code for you, and Anthropic's terms cover that.
No guarantees
We build this carefully and test it, but it's early software. It's provided as it is, without any warranty. We don't promise it's free of faults, always available, or suited to any particular purpose. We don't back up anything on your computer, so keep your own backups.
As far as the law allows, we're not liable for loss that comes from using helloim.ai, including lost work, data, time or money.
If the law where you live gives you rights that can't be signed away, these terms don't try to take them.
Ending
You can stop using helloim.ai at any time. To have your account deleted, email hello@markdalton.com from the address on the account. We can suspend or close an account that breaks these terms.
We may stop offering helloim.ai. If we do, we'll give at least 30 days' notice by email and on this site. A running Enterprise agreement keeps working through the notice period, and we'll refund any prepaid time beyond it, pro rata. The Windows app has to check your account with our server before it starts, so once that server is switched off, the app will stop working.
Changes
If these terms change materially, we'll update this page and the date at the top. If you keep using helloim.ai after that, you accept the new terms.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of Texas. Any dispute goes to the courts of Texas.
